Betsy Lowther is the Senior Editor of The Washington Post's luxury fashion glossy, FW: Fashion Washington. She also serves as the Assistant Styles Editor of the The Washington Post Express, where she regularly contributes fashion, decor and lifestyle features.
Previously, she worked as a full-time freelance writer and editor in Washington D.C. since early 2008, contributing to local and national publications and serving as the D.C./Baltimore correspondent for Lucky magazine from 2008-2009. She was based as a writer/editor in Asia from 2003-2007 in Beijing and then Singapore, where she covered fashion, culture, travel and trends from various cities around the region, including Hong Kong, Tokyo, Mumbai, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Shanghai and more. She began her career in magazines in New York City, last as an Associate Editor at Harper's Bazaar. From 2004 to 2008, Betsy was a regular contributor to the fashion industry bible Women's Wear Daily (WWD), covering topics such as local design, retail development, consumer behavior and industry trends across Asia. She is also the creator of fashion and design blog Fashion is Spinach, which was selected by Chanel in 2007, Gucci in 2008 and YSL in 2009 as one of the most influential fashion blogs in the world. The site now receives more than 3,500 page views per day and more than 95,000 per month for its candid mix of unique finds and original style. In addition, Betsy has been published in a wide variety of regional and international publications, including The Washington Post Magazine, Washingtonian magazine, Travel + Leisure (Southeast Asia), WWDScoop, WWDBeautyBiz, W magazine, The Asian Wall Street Journal, Teen Vogue (U.S.), Vogue (Australia), Harper's Bazaar (Australia), Elle (Asia Pacific), Architectural Record and many more.
