Betsy Lowther was recently appointed Senior Editor of The Washington Post's new monthly fashion glossy, FW (Fashion Washington). She also regularly contributes to The Washington Post Express Styles section and serves as the D.C./Baltimore correspondent for Lucky magazine, contributing a weekly local fashion events column and monthly regional shopping content.
Previously, she worked as a full-time freelance writer and editor in Washington D.C. since late 2007, and in Asia based in Beijing and Singapore from 2003-2007, where she covered fashion, culture, travel and trends from various cities around the region, including Hong Kong, Tokyo, Mumbai, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Shanghai and more. She began her career in magazines in New York City, last as an Associate Editor at Harper's Bazaar. Since 2004, Betsy has also been a regular contributor to the fashion industry bible Women's Wear Daily (WWD), covering topics such as local design, retail development, consumer behavior and industry trends across Asia. She is also the creator of fashion and design blog Fashion is Spinach, which was selected by Chanel in 2007 and Gucci in 2008 as one of the most influential fashion blogs in the world. The site now receives more than 3,500 page views per day and more than 95,000 per month for its candid mix of unique finds and original style. In addition, Betsy has been published in a wide variety of regional and international publications, including The Washington Post Magazine, Washingtonian magazine, Travel + Leisure (Southeast Asia), WWDScoop, WWDBeautyBiz, W magazine, The Asian Wall Street Journal, Teen Vogue (U.S.), Vogue (Australia), Harper's Bazaar (Australia), Elle (Asia Pacific), Architectural Record and many more.
